The Overseas Chinese Library in Nantong, Jiangsu province, announced plans to set up international book drifting stations in four countries on Jan 11 during its 2025 annual volunteer meeting.

The new stations will be located in Spain, Myanmar, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. Additionally, agreements for two domestic book drifting stations were signed at the event.

In addition to establishing these stations, the library will collaborate with top Chinese schools and overseas Chinese book drifting stations to host a series of reading activities, according to Zhen Xiang, founder of the Overseas Chinese Library.

The library will also organize events across various countries, including a Year of the Horse-themed reading and bookmark design competition, the China-Thailand Cultural Salon, an overseas Chinese history reading event in the Philippines, and a Chinese reading activity in Argentina.

Furthermore, the library plans to conduct themed readings on overseas Chinese culture, organize cross-cultural book exhibitions, and facilitate paired reading sessions between Chinese volunteers and overseas Chinese youth.
