The Haimen Innovative Drugs and Formulations Cluster was recently selected for the list of 2025 Jiangsu provincial characteristic industrial cluster of small and medium-sized enterprises, becoming the only pharmaceutical cluster in Nantong and one of only three in the province to be included. 

As an important emerging force in the biomedical field in the Yangtze River Delta region, the Haimou cluster has developed a full-chain industrial ecosystem covering R&D, production, services, and applications after years of cultivation. 

In 2024, the cluster gathered 60 industrial enterprises above designated size, achieving an output of nearly 7 billion yuan ($997.09 million), a rise of 12.14 percent from last year. Brands including Thousand Oaks, Vanguard, and Wisdom Pharmaceutical have achieved strong competitiveness in areas like active pharmaceutical ingredients and high-end formulations. 

The cluster has also deepened industry-university-research collaboration with top institutions such as Fudan University and the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica. It has built 13 innovation platforms at the provincial-level or above and participated in nearly 20 revisions of industry standards.
