A press conference for the 2026 Qidong Triton World Series was held in Shanghai on Dec 20, announcing that the international top-tier triathlon event will take place in Qidong from June 19 to 21, 2026.

Paulo Passos Leite, global chairman and founder of Triton, said Qidong's outstanding natural conditions, a clear "sports plus tourism" development strategy, and its commitment to hosting high-quality events give him strong confidence that the city will become a successful stop on the Triton global circuit.

Gu Jun, general manager of the event operator, noted that triathlon events have been held in Qidong since 2016. He said the city offers unique natural advantages, a professional event-hosting environment, and scenic coastal landscapes that provide athletes with an exceptional competition experience.

Gu added that the company plans to further integrate professional sporting events with Qidong's cultural and tourism resources, establish youth training bases, and develop event-related merchandise and sports equipment sales.

According to the organizers, the 2026 Triton World Series in Qidong is expected to attract more than 2,000 athletes and enthusiasts from nearly 60 countries and regions.

In addition to the Triton event, Qidong is set to host more than 20 high-profile sporting events in 2026, including a Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour stop, the Tour of Taihu Lake Cycling Race, and the CBA Summer League, further strengthening the city's profile as a dynamic destination for major sports events.
