The classic ballet Mermaid is expected to be performed by the Russian Far Eastern Youth Ballet at the Gengsu Theater in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, on July 27.

The show is adapted from the fairy tale masterpiece Daughter of the Sea by Hans Christian Andersen in 1836. In the ballet, dancers portray the beautiful and sorrowful image of the little mermaid through exquisite dance and graceful body language, vividly contrasting the simple and calm underwater world with the complex and diverse human world.

The ballet's choreography is delicate and expressive. Dancers will express the innocence and bravery of the little mermaid, the lively and agile movements of underwater creatures, and the complexity of the human world with elegant dance postures and nimble footwork. Additionally, the background music will greatly enhance the show, with its beautiful and moving melodies, sometimes soothing and melodious, depicting the tranquility and mystery of the underwater world. At other times, it becomes lively and intense, highlighting the emotional fluctuations of the protagonist.

The Russian Far Eastern Youth Ballet was established in 1969, and over the course of more than 40 years, the actors have garnered numerous accolades for their impressive performances and strong artistry. The troupe has become one of the most important ballet art education and development institutions in Russia, with touring performances spanning over 20 countries.
