Haimen strides forward in rural revitalization practice
The 2024 provincial assessment results for advancing rural revitalization strategy were recently released, with Haimen being recognized as an advanced district in promoting comprehensive rural revitalization. This marks the fifth consecutive year that Haimen has maintained its position in the top tier of Jiangsu province's rural revitalization performance evaluations.

In the past year, Haimen has accomplished several milestones. The region has been designated as a national pioneer zone for modern facility agriculture innovation, positioning it at the forefront of agricultural advancements. Additionally, 22 villages have been recognized in Jiangsu's inaugural selection of livable, business-friendly, and harmonious villages, reflecting a commitment to sustainable rural development. Furthermore, Haimen's comprehensive rural reform pilot zone has been acknowledged as a 2024 Chinese reform annual case, highlighting its innovative approaches to local governance and reform initiatives.
Last year, Haimen developed 59,200 mu (3,946.67 hectares) of new high-standard farmland, leading Nantong's other regions in both grain planting area growth and total output increase. The district expanded annual vegetable cultivation to 568,000 mu with 1.32 million metric tons output, achieving 0.59 percent and 5.26 percent growth, respectively. Aquatic product output rose 1.95 percent year-on-year to 52,600 tons.
The district also implemented 31 major agricultural projects with 2.48 billion yuan ($337.54 million) investment, driving nearly 1.2 billion yuan in income growth for over 100,000 rural households.
