In recent years, Nantong's Tongzhou district has not only been actively developing its manufacturing industry, but also investing in the cultivation of skilled workers for the sector.

Since the beginning of this year, the district federation of labor union has organized over 20 vocational skills competitions, with 5,500 participants. The competitions resulted in the selection of 576 winners.

As one example, Tongzhou hosted the second "Tongjiang Cup" crane operator skills competition from Nov 26 to 27, during which 43 experienced crane operators competed in a combination of theoretical assessments and practical operations. The competition tested participants' safety awareness, adaptability in complex environments, and teamwork abilities.

Additionally, on Nov 11, Tongzhou held its 13th Vocational Skills Competition for workers, as well as a skills contest for employees in the district’s water services system, at Tongzhou District Construction Workers Vocational School and Yimin Water Treatment Co Ltd.

Tongzhou has also focused on supporting the development of new productivity through vocational skill competitions. In July, a special competition was held for the textile industry, one of the district's traditional strengths, while in August, skill contests were organized for workers in the postal, fire rescue, and telecommunications sectors.
