On Oct 18, Bayer began construction on its new consumer health products supply center in the Qidong Economic Development Zone, with an initial investment of 600 million yuan ($84.16 million).
The new site will feature advanced production lines, laboratories, and storage facilities, with completion expected in 2026 and operations set to start in 2028. It is intended to become one of Bayer's most modern and sustainable supply hubs globally.
Julio Triana, president of Bayer's Consumer Health Division, expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, "Nantong is strategically located and has a favorable business environment, with immense development potential. We are delighted to continue our journey in this innovative and economically vibrant region of Jiangsu."
The center is expected to meet the growing demand for personal care solutions among Chinese consumers while enhancing Bayer's global supply chain. Triana said he hopes it will bring significant socioeconomic benefits to Nantong and beyond, driving breakthroughs in the health and wellness sector.
Zhang Tong, mayor of Nantong, echoed this sentiment, expressing her hope that Bayer will increase its investment and strengthen its R&D efforts. She emphasized the importance of attracting upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain to Nantong, which will inject new momentum into the city's biomedicine and health industries.
