Representatives from the United Kingdom's institutions in China and transnational corporations gathered in Nantong on July 18 to discuss the city's investment environment.

Li Ling, vice-mayor of Nantong, gave a brief introduction of the city, saying that Nantong boasts a well-developed transportation system and a solid industrial foundation.

She also encouraged the guests to share their experiences in Nantong with their friends and invited more businesspeople to visit, invest and start businesses in the city.

Yue Jia, a representative of UK's leading meat product manufacturer, Cranswick, noted that the company was attracted by Nantong's large market and complete industrial chain, and that it expects to find partners in the city.

Zhang Chenlu, a representative of Smith & Nephew, a world-leading medical producer, invited Nantong to send a delegation to visit their headquarters in London, saying that Smith & Nephew hopes to collaborate with the city in exploring innovative ways to improve human health and well-being.

Nantong has in recent years rolled out a series of measures to stabilize foreign investment and optimize the business environment for foreign businesspeople. To date, the city has hosted over 3,800 foreign-invested enterprises, including 143 UK-funded projects and 112 projects invested by Fortune Global 500 companies, and it has trade partners in over 206 countries and regions.
