【Zhang Jian】'Zhang Jian and Nantong Art Research Exhibition' opens in Nantong Art Museum

An exhibition on Zhang Jian (1853-1926) and Nantong art research opened on June 29 at Nantong Art Museum in Jiangsu province, where the renowned industrialist, educator and social activist was born.
This exhibition showcases a total of 46 artworks including calligraphy works, paintings, embroidery, books, and visual media pieces. Through a comprehensive approach intertwining artistic creations with corresponding historical documents, the exhibition explores the history of Nantong art with Zhang as the focal point.
The exhibition delves into various aspects such as Zhang's collection, contributions to building gardens, educational endeavors, fostering talents, social interactions, and moral education, revealing his advocacy and practices in promoting industry through art and advancing education.
The showcased artworks include pieces from the Nantong Museum, individual collections from artists like Shen Qipeng, Qiu Shi, and Wei Wu, as well as collections from institutions like the Nantong Geyi Art Museum.
The exhibition is set to run until Sept 17, offering a unique opportunity for art enthusiasts and history buffs alike to immerse themselves in the legacy of Zhang and the captivating story of Nantong art.
