The 2024 China-Japan (Nantong) Industrial Cooperation and Exchanges Meeting was convened in Nantong, Jiangsu province on June 22 to promote in-depth exchanges between Nantong and Japan in economy, trade, technology, and culture.
The meeting was hosted by the Nantong municipal government and China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment and attended by representatives from over 10 Japanese enterprises as well as officials from related local governmental departments.
After learning about the Chinese city's economic and social development, the Japanese participants agreed that Nantong enjoys obvious advantages in terms of location, transportation, and costs, and that the city boasts a solid industrial foundation in the industries of biological medicine, new materials, new energy, and high-end equipment.
They all expressed hope that the visit will give them a better understanding of the city and the chance to explore further cooperation.
Li Ling, vice-mayor of Nantong, expects the Japanese enterprises to bring in more companies to the city. She also promised to create a first-class business environment and offer efficient services to them.
During their stay in Nantong, the Japanese participants visited Qidong and the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Zone to learn about the city's industrial development.
Nantong is currently home to over 3,800 foreign-invested companies, including nearly 500 Japanese-invested companies, such as Toray, Mitsubishi, and Sumitomo.
