The dance I Am Cuba commenced its global tour at the Gengsu Theater in Nantong, Jiangsu province, on June 7, offering locals a spectacular audiovisual feast.
Showcasing Cuba's history, culture, and the life of its people, I Am Cuba embodies the unique cultural charm of Cuba and the country's national spirit.
Dancers dressed in colorful costumes danced gracefully to the accompaniment of music, with each movement full of energy. Their performance not only displayed the elegance and passion of dance, but also conveyed the Cuban people's love of life and yearning for freedom.
The dance was inspired by the drama film of the same name directed by Mikhail Kalatozov at Mosfilm in the 1960s. It took five years for Eduardo Vidia, principal dancer and choreographer of Cuban National Spanish Dance Company, to create it.
