Three container cranes manufactured by Jiangsu Watts Energy and Engineering set off from Qidong, Nantong, bound for countries along the Belt and Road. With a rated lifting capacity of 40.5 metric tons, the cranes are expected to significantly increase the container throughput capacity at their destination ports.
"The demand for construction machinery, such as cranes, is currently high in international markets. As a result, Watts has been receiving more orders. The efficient and high-quality services provided by Qidong customs have given us greater confidence in securing these orders," said Zhang Lin, secretary of the board at Watts.
To ensure the timely and safe shipment of these cranes, Qidong customs arranged a special team to strengthen communication with shipping companies and manufacturers. The customs team utilized drones for remote monitoring, enabling real-time tracking of cargo clearance and ship departures.
During the first two months of 2024, Qidong customs oversaw exports worth 27.06 billion yuan ($3.73 billion), with 19.8 billion yuan in electromechanical products. Liu Zhenhua, deputy head of Qidong customs, said, "In the future, more 'Made in Qidong' products will go global. Qidong customs will continue to streamline clearance measures and optimize the port business environment, driving high-quality growth in foreign trade."
