Tongzhou witnesses vibrant Spring Festival consumption
Tongzhou district in Nantong, Jiangsu province, experienced a surge in consumer activity during the Spring Festival, with over 200 lively cultural and tourism events attracting upwards of 400,000 attendees.
Key scenic spots in the district welcomed 318,200 visitors, generating a revenue of 14.1 million yuan ($1.96 million). Attractions like the ZhouJi Green Expo Garden received 39,931 visitors with a revenue of 1.8 million yuan, the Flower Town welcomed 71,856 visitors with a revenue of 2.35 million yuan, and the Zhouji Menghuan Island saw 19,800 visitors, contributing to a revenue of 680,000 yuan.
From Feb 10 to 17, spanning the eight-day Spring Festival holiday, key commercial enterprises in the district achieved a total sales revenue of about 25.21 million yuan. This marked a 6.7 percent increase from the previous year.
Major dining businesses in the district reported a restaurant turnover of around 17.1 million yuan, reflecting a substantial 38.7 percent year-on-year increase. Accommodation turnover reached about 985,000 yuan, showcasing a 44.7 percent increase compared to the same period in last year.
The spike in consumer spending can be attributed to the distribution of subsidies totaling around 100,000 yuan during the Spring Festival in Tongzhou. This, in turn, resulted in a boost in automotive sales, totaling 6.24 million yuan, and drived consumption in dining, supermarkets, hotels, and other establishments throughout the district.
