Yangkou Port in Nantong, Jiangsu province welcomed the first liquefied natural gas carrier of the Chinese New Year on Feb 17.
Under the supervision and traffic organization of the Nantong Maritime Bureau, the Marshall Islands-flagged vessel Al Dafna safely berthed at the PetroChina Jiangsu LNG terminal. This marks the first arrival of the largest type of LNG vessel along the Jiangsu coast in the Chinese New Year.
The vessel, measuring 345 meters in length and 52 meters in width, unloaded 114,700 metric tons of liquefied natural gas, equivalent to 260,000 cubic meters, which can meet the needs of 300 million households for a day.
During the berthing period, coastal gusts were forecasted to reach up to force 8, posing a significant impact on the safety of offloading operation. To ensure safety, the Nantong Maritime Bureau implemented various measures and utilized information systems to strengthen monitoring.
