A liquefied natural gas carrier from Qatar, known as Al Samriya, docked at the Yangkou Port on Rudong's Yangguang Island, Nantong, Jiangsu province and unloaded 210,000 cubic meters of LNG on Nov 25.

This marks the 65th LNG transport vessel received by the terminal at this port in the current year.

Since the unloading of the first LNG vessel on May 24, 2011, Rudong has established navigation relationships with LNG resource sites in 25 countries and regions along the Belt and Road, including Qatar, Australia, and Russia. The amount unloaded LNG has surpassed 54 million metric tons, satisfying more than one-third of Jiangsu's annual natural gas supply.

"Rudong, situated in the Yangtze River Delta region, is not only a high-energy consumption area but also a key location for energy structural transformation. The current natural gas market in the Yangtze River Delta region exceeds 60 billion cubic meters," stated Chen Huiyu, secretary of the CPC Rudong committee.

At present, three significant energy infrastructure projects on Yangguang Island, namely Jiangsu Guoxin, Xiexin Huidong, and CR Gas, are under construction. When combined with the operational PetroChina facility, the island will host four LNG receiving stations across its three-square-kilometer area.

Upon completion of all four LNG receiving stations, Yangguang Island will become the largest LNG energy supply center in the country, which will significantly contribute to Jiangsu's and even East China's energy structural adjustments, aligning with the national energy development strategy.
