Rudong makes strides in boosting high-tech industries
Rudong county in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has been making continuous efforts in recent years to encourage industries to become more high-end, intelligent, green, and cluster-oriented.

Located in Rudong Economic Development Zone, Jiangsu Jonnyma New Material Co Ltd is a high-tech enterprise engaged in the production, research, and sale of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber products.
In recent years, the company has strengthened innovation efforts and successfully overcame the industry's common challenges in coloring ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fibers.
In the first quarter of this year, the company experienced strong performance in production and sales, with sales increasing by nearly 20 percent compared to the same period last year.
In addition, the company is preparing to establish a postdoctoral station in collaboration with Donghua University.
The project includes the construction of an experimental building and the expansion of workshops.
According to the company, the existing production capacity could be increased by as much as 30 percent after the project reaches its target output.
Located in Yangkou town, Jiangsu Youjia Crop Protection Co Ltd is a key player in the county's new plant protection industry chain.
Xie Bangwei, deputy general manager of the company, stated that they have established an energy-saving team within the company that consists of professionals in various fields such as technology, equipment, processes, and production.
In 2022, the company implemented 30 projects, resulting in a turnover of 24 million yuan ($3.42 million) and an 8.5 percent reduction in energy consumption.
Since the beginning of this year, Yangkou town has increased its efforts to develop emerging industries such as high-end equipment, new energy, and new materials.
Yangkou town is currently home to 82 companies with an annual turnover exceeding 100 million yuan, including 12 companies with a turnover exceeding 1 billion yuan.
In the first quarter of this year, the town achieved a total industrial output value of 12.94 billion yuan, with high-tech industries accounting for 76 percent.
