Innovation has been a significant driver of industrial development in Rudong, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, as evidenced by the increasing number of high-tech enterprises in the county. It is currently home to 230 high-tech enterprises.

Among them is Nantong Maiborui New Materials Co Ltd in the Rudong Economic Development Zone, which specializes in developing micro-filtration membrane.

The company has recently made significant progress in innovative development.

According to Maiborui, the PES micro-filtration membrane developed by the company has broken the long-term monopoly held by foreign enterprises.

Yu Chunhui, general manager of the company, said that the company has applied for three patents of invention and one of them has been approved.

Last year, the company generated 36 million yuan ($5.19 million) in sales and hopes to generate 60 million yuan this year.

In the first two months of this year, the high-tech industrial output value of RDEDZ increased 8.8 percent year-on-year.

The county has also reported 507 technical transaction contracts with a turnover of 2.26 billion yuan so far this year.

In addition, the county has seen three new foreign high-end and professional talents this year, and the number of applications for high-tech enterprises is expected to increase by 20 over last year.
