Binhai village sees better living environment
Binhai village in Rudong, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has strengthened its efforts to improve its living environment over the past few years.
According to local authorities, the village has spent 10 million yuan ($1.45 million) on treating polluted rivers, building ecological river banks, and renovating rural roads.
In addition, local authorities have introduced incentive measures that encourage villagers to maintain the village's clean environment.
Efforts to better the environment have also resulted in the installation of more streetlamps, which have improved the appearance of the village at night. A villager named Ge Cuimin said more people now go on strolls and dance in the plaza after nightfall as compared to before.
