Tuditang village in Haimen district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province was designated a provincial traditional ancient village, the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Jiangsu announced on Feb 23.
Sixty-three villages in the province were listed. The villages feature abundant traditional cultural resources, pleasant living environments and upgraded infrastructure.
Tuditang village, which features temple-style architecture from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), has been attracting many businessmen from provinces like Zhejiang and Anhui in recent years.
The village has a 1,200-meter-long ancient street, along which residents operate up grocery markets, supermarkets and pharmacies.
Jiangsu province has in recent years been channeling more resources towards preserving its traditional ancient villages. Efforts include renovating historic buildings and improving public service facilities.
