Tongzhou rolls out measures to encourage employee invention
Employee inventions in Tongzhou district, Nantong, Jiangsu province, generated an economic benefit of over 90 million yuan ($13.04 million) in 2022, local media reported.
This was made possible by the measures taken by authorities to improve the skills and innovative capabilities of workers in local enterprises.
For example, the district had in 2022 established Tongzhou Craftsmen College, which is aimed at developing high-quality industrial workers.
Authorities have also launched a policy that encourages enterprises and training institutions to carry out skills training for workers.
Tongzhou Construction General Contracting Group Co Ltd is one of the local enterprises that have attached great importance to the skills training of workers. For example, the company has set up a learning community to cultivate talents for rail traffic construction.
In Nantong Tongda Silicon Steel Technology Co Ltd, employee Zhang Jinjie had last November offered a technical recommendation that helped the company save 44,000 yuan per month.
According to Wang Yue, vice-general manager of the company, workers who contribute to technological innovations will be given priority when it comes to promotions.
In addition, the district has set up a fund to reward workers who improve their skills or qualifications.
To date, Tongzhou has spent 612,000 yuan in rewarding 114 workers.
