Talent introduction boosts innovative development in Hai'an
Talent introduction has become an important driver of innovative development in Hai'an, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province.
Official statistics show that Hai'an has introduced 11 overseas talents and 106 high-profile innovative talents over the past year.
The growing pool of high-profile talents has also advanced the building of post-doctorate R&D bases that inject strong impetus into the innovative development of local enterprises.
Among the enterprises that have set up a post-doctoral research center is Jiangsu Tiemao Glass Co Ltd, which specializes in new materials.
Since hiring two post-doctoral fellows in 2016, Tiemao has made significant progress in research and development and has published several SCI theses on nanomaterials.
Last October, Tiemao received approval to set up a national post-doctoral research center.
To encourage local enterprises to improve their innovation capacity, Hai'an authorities had in 2020 launched a policy stating that enterprises with post-doctoral centers would receive subsidies of up to 200,000 yuan ($29,176).
Hai'an is currently home to 20 post-doctoral research centers, including eight national ones, four provincial ones, and eight branch offices of national centers.
To date, the post-doctoral research centers in the county have applied for 143 invention patents and 19 authorized patents.
