The 12th Tongzhou Literature and Art Week opened in Tongzhou district, Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province on Sept 22.

The opening ceremony consisted of three parts and featured rap music, dance, drama and poetry performances.

The event aims to showcase works created by local artists, promote the spread of local culture and display the achievements Tongzhou has made over the past decade. 

Alongside the literature and art week, calligraphy, photographic works, and folk arts and crafts exhibitions are scheduled to be staged.

Folk arts and crafts, such as blueprint cloths, whistle kites, and redwood engraving are also being showcased.

The exhibitions are scheduled to be on a tour for more than a month, according to organizers.
