Haimen district in Nantong plans to spend 15 million yuan ($2.29 million) renovating roads along the Yangtze River in Linjiang New Area, according to the district's transport authority.
The project will include building a 3.1-kilometer new countryside road and rebuilding a 3.7-km cement road with asphalt. The design is expected to be published in late April.
It is part of the local government's efforts to upgrade the riverside landscape and the transportation network in the waterfront area.
Located in the southeastern part of Haimen district, the Linjiang New Area covers 58.3 square kilometers and enjoys a 25-km shoreline, with a riverside highway stretching across the area.
It connects the Yangtze River to the south and the Nanjing-Qidong Expressway to the north, boasting an advantageous location and convenient transportation connections.
Equipped with advanced infrastructure, the area has been working to develop the advanced manufacturing, high-end technology, and modern service industries to help Nantong build an environmentally friendly riverside economic belt.
