In the first 11 month of this year, the foreign trade of Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province reached a record high with the total value reaching 699.42 billion yuan ($95.83 billion), statistics from local customs show.
The figure represents a year-on-year increase of 9.5 percent, 2.6 percentage points higher than the provincial average.
Its exports amounted to 453.82 billion yuan, a 7.7 percent year-on-year increase, while imports reached 245.61 billion yuan, up 13 percent from the previous year.
From January to November, the city's imports and exports to ASEAN, South Korea, the European Union, Japan, and the United States increased by 14.4 percent, 20 percent, 1.1 percent, 7.2 percent, and 3.9 percent, respectively. During the same period, its trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative expanded by 12.3 percent, and trade with other RCEP member countries grew by 13.1 percent.
Wuxi has seen rapid growth in the import and export of high value-added and high-tech products. In the first 11 months, the city's imports and exports of high-tech products reached 297.85 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.6 percent and accounting for 42.6 percent of the city's total import and export volume. The cumulative foreign trade volume of the integrated circuit industry in the city reached 117.05 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 22.1 percent.
In addition, Wuxi Shuofang Airport opened a cargo route to Mexico City in April, becoming the first regular all-cargo flight connecting the Latin American region within the province. The cargo route to South Korea has been operating one flight per day since May 17.
