A supermarket in the city of Wuxi, Jiangsu province put up a poster to tell consumers that they can use Alipay and WeChat to make payments, instead of using cash and credit card.

The supermatket's customer notice is yet another sign that the offline retail industry is increasingly resorting to online Internet technologies to provide better customer services for consumers.

Alipay, known as China's own version of PayPal, is the country's leading third-party online payment service.

WeChat is a popular instant messaging platform run by Tencent. Apart from being a messaging platform, it has launched a mobile payment service.
