In Xinghua city, East China's Jiangsu province, the distribution centers of Yunda Express and J&T Express, two major Chinese logistics providers, have been adopting advanced technologies to enhance their operational efficiency.

That's in response to the continued growth in the volumes of express deliveries.

In the e-commerce industrial park of the Xinghua Economic Development Zone, automatic sorting equipment that has recently been introduced by Yunda Express becomes a highlight of the express processing center.

Funded by the zone, the equipment occupies an area of over 5,000 square meters. By adopting advanced automation technology, it can process over 10,000 express packages per hour, with efficiency up by 60 percent compared with conventional manual sorting.

The new gear can quickly and accurately classify packages into different delivery areas through an intelligent recognition system.

Elsewhere, J&T Express's distribution centers in Xinghua have made breakthroughs in unmanned deliveries.

The unmanned vehicles put into use by J&T Express are equipped with advanced laser radar and cameras and they run on intelligent algorithms, which can achieve autonomous navigation, avoid obstacles and carry out path planning.

Each unmanned vehicle can carry over 1,000 parcels and travel 80 kilometers on a single charge.

The application of new technologies, such as automatic sorting equipment and unmanned vehicles, is expected to improve the operational efficiency and service quality of the entire express delivery industry.
