A welcome ceremony for French director Camille Ponsin, a recipient of multiple awards for his powerful documentaries, took place in Xinghua city in East China's Jiangsu province on May 7.
The ceremony marked the starting point of his planned travels through Xinghua to collect folk art and have cultural and artistic exchanges in the following days.
During his stay, Ponsin will also participate in various activities and give lectures in Xinghua that are expected to be of enormous interest to film buffs.
As a leading French director, he has directed over 10 documentaries and won the Best Documentary Award from France at FIPADOC 2022 – an international documentary film festival held annually in Biarritz.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France and Ponsin was invited to come over by Chinese author Bi Feiyu, whose hometown is Xinghua.
"I hope to invite foreign artists to come and see Xinghua and help Xinghua art creators broaden their horizons and grow rapidly," Bi said.
