Zhongbao town in Xinghua city – administered by Taizhou in Jiangsu province – is regarded as a prime example of developing the village collective economy in Xinghua.
It's been recognized as a village-firm joint construction prototype. As such, the town has continued to lead villages with enterprises, promote enterprises within villages, revitalize assets and integrate resources – all to help accumulate energy and momentum for the collective economy.
One example is that the town government has used the roofs of the factory buildings being operated by Taizhou Hengrun Glass Co Ltd, a local electricity consumer, to install solar power panels.
In 2021, Zhongbao town used funding of 2.4 million yuan ($334,474) to jointly build a solar power station with four local villages and resident company Taizhou Hengrun Glass Co Ltd. This is projected to help each village involved increase its annual income by 260,000 yuan.
Moreover, the town has activated idle assets, to help boost the incomes of farmers. It bought an old factory in Lujiadian village and attracted a sports equipment company to settle there, helping 58 local villagers find employment.
Taking Qijia village as a pilot example, Zhongbao town has been exploring the transformation of farmland. It also acted to convert wasteland into fertile land and extend land-scale transfers and operations.
As a result, currently, eight out of 10 villages in Zhongbao town have achieved village-firm pairing for further development.
