Xinghua – located in East China's Jiangsu province – wants Japan's food sector to invest in and help develop its food industry, the city's Party secretary Chen Fengjian said recently.
Chen made the remarks while receiving a Japanese delegation on Nov 24.
Chen said Xinghua – located in the central part of Jiangsu, with vast farmland and extensive natural water resources – is one of the top 10 commercial grain production hubs in China.
Moreover, the city's annual output of freshwater products had ranked first in Jiangsu province for many years. He said that while Xinghua had unique advantages in the development of its food industry, Japan had superior international competitiveness.
Chen invited Japanese food groups to invest in Xinghua and establish a good partnership with local companies.
The delegation members said they were full of confidence about the prospect and would bring more Japanese companies there for in-depth exchanges and talks about future cooperation and mutual benefits.
Before the meeting, the Japanese delegation also visited the Xinghua Economic Development Zone.
