A food competition was held on March 19 in Xinghua – a county-level city administered by Taizhou in East China's Jiangsu province – with 30 professional chefs and 26 teams from local towns or sub-districts participating.
They were striving for the honors of being named celebrity chefs and being invited to prepare five-star banquets in Xinghua.
A highlight of the event was that more than 10 banquets with local dishes were presented. At the Duotian sub-district table, chef Ma Leiyong prepared streaky pork with the local featured taro vegetable named Longxiangyu.
Elsewhere, at on-site cooking tables, each professional chef was required to make three innovative dishes using local poultry meat, sea food and seasonal vegetables within one hour and a half.
