A film called The Stacking Fields of Hope, featuring Xinghua city – administered by Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province – was recently shortlisted for the Best Rural Vitalization Film Award at the Hong Kong Bauhinia International Film Festival.
The Hong Kong Bauhinia International Film Festival, held under the auspices of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, is an annual event showcasing mainstream Chinese films.

Duotian, which is the local name for the "raised field", formed in ancient times when local farmers living near rivers and lakes dug up the soil from the riverbeds to form farmland where they could grow crops and vegetables.
Highlighting local the duotian landscape and the stunning views of cole flowers, the film portrays local customs and culture and shows how educated young people from Xinghua city overcame numerous difficulties, developed distinctive tourism and revitalized the region.
