A project being funded by the China National Arts Fund, the original Red Huaiju Opera Stalker, from Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province, was premiered at the Wanping Theater in East China's Shanghai on Dec 5.
The opera has been adapted from the deeds of Yang Yanxiu, a hero who was a native of Taizhou's Hailing district and it was performed by the Taizhou Huaiju Opera Troupe.
According to the story, Yang uses his business as a cover, engages in secret communications and underground economic work and actively raises funds for the Communist Party of China, completing the important tasks assigned by it.
The whole opera unfolds in gripping suspense and the plot is full of ups and downs. The artistic technique of a montage is used to shape the image of a stalker fighting for his faith.
The successful premiere in Shanghai has showcased the artistic value of cultural masterpieces and it has sparked a new wave of cultural exchanges between Shanghai and Taizhou.
