After careful repairs and a revamp, ancient Zhonglou Alley and Shisheng Street – located in the Hailing district of Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – have become must-see places for tourists when they visit the city.
Founded over 700 years ago, Zhonglou Alley, or Bell tower Alley, has 19 extant immovable cultural relics, including a bronze bell and an ancient well dating back to Tang Dynasty (618-907).
These days the alley also has activity venues that young people love, creating a youthful and energetic vibe.
It also boasts specialty stores, quality stores and great internet stores to create a night market area which young folks love to tour after dark.
For its part, Shisheng Street is known for its historical significance as an ancient battlefield and has 13 surviving immovable cultural relics.
After reconstruction, Shisheng Street retains its original Taizhou style residential architectural style. Focusing on attracting featured catering, the street now combines life, fashion and entertainment, offering visitors a wide range of things to do.
