The Qinhu Wetland Park in the town boasts an excellent ecosystem and environment and is known as the hometown of the elk – a species regarded as being a key example of national wildlife. Indeed, the most complete fossil specimen of an elk in the country was once unearthed in the area.
In 1996, four elk were introduced into the local area for the purposes of conservation and restocking. The great environment there allowed the rare animal to breed and thrive and at present, the park is home to 166 elks.
