Cultural venues and attractions in Taizhou city, East China's Jiangsu province, have been buzzing with life as festive activities to celebrate the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival get underway.
Besides exhibitions, the Taizhou Museum and Taizhou Cultural Center are also organizing events related to the Dragon Boat Festival. For example, visitors can try their hands at crafting their own blessing ropes, fragrant sachets, zongzi (glutinous rice dumplings), and delicate handheld fans.
From June 22 to 24, the enchanting Qiuxue Lake Huaqi Yunli scenic area will hold an assortment of activities. Participants can immerse themselves in cultural customs by indulging in cinnabar dotting, receiving vibrant ropes as keepsakes, solving lantern riddles, enjoying the excitement of zongzi-fishing, and checking out an exhibition about intangible cultural heritage photos.
During the same period, the Daohe ancient street will host events allowing people to make zongzi, admire the elegance of calamus decorations, learn the skill of sewing fragrant sachets, and even experience the allure of donning hanfu, or traditional Chinese attire.
Meanwhile, the historical Huangqiao ancient town will hold a Dragon Boat Festival that blends traditional culture with interactive activities, including zongzi-making, calligraphy exchanges, Go games, tea art experiences, the ancient game of touhu (an ancient game of throwing arrows into a pitcher), intricate colorful rope weaving, and performances featuring hanfu and qipao attire.
