A two-day promotional event for the national Cultural and Natural Heritage Day kicked off in the Hailing district of Taizhou city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – on June 9.
During the launch ceremony, local items of national intangible cultural heritage, including Taixing Huagu Opera, or flower-drum opera and Hailing liaoshisuo – an ancient martial art – were awarded official certificates.
Four cultural heritage tourism routes were introduced and the inaugural issue of Taizhou (Yangzhou school) bonsai postage stamps were unveiled

The event featured three exhibition areas consisting of 22 stalls – offering food tastings of local cuisine, presentations by a dozen companies and interactive experiences to visitors.
In the exhibition areas, Chinese-style gift boxes adorned with bonsai and miniature water fountains were displayed. In addition, inheritors of the art of Taizhou (Yangzhou school) bonsai presented recently pruned bonsai trees.
Adding to the fun, there were displays of handicrafts like micro-carvings and dough figurines, while delectable local delicacies were offered, including Huangqiao shaobing – or bucket-baked rolls – and Qintong fish cakes.
