The zaocha festival opened on April 9 in the Sanshui Bay area – near Fengcheng River in the Hailing district of Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province.
Zaocha, or early breakfast tea, is something of an institution in Taizhou. It is an early-morning repast, with delicious small treats served alongside a variety of steaming hot teas.
A crosstalk special performance of a national art group was staged at the festival.
Several performers jollied up the audience – including Ma Yanbiao's allegro show, Chen Fengning's crosstalk performance and other lively and witty skits.
Of these, the most popular artist was Feng Gong – a frequent presence on the Spring Festival Gala stage.

According to Zhai Wenzhou – chairman of Taizhou Culture & Tourism Group, the zaocha event has become a prime cultural emblem of the city. He added that the performances by State-level artists had generated a wave of renewed enthusiasm for it.
Moving forwards, plans are for more fun events on the theme to be launched later.
