The much-anticipated annual fishing festival runs to Jan 15.
At the venue on the Qinhu River, the fishermen worked together to haul in the nets. As the fishing boats converged on the local port and the fat fresh fish thrashed about onboard, a jumbo-sized fish weighing 34.4 kilograms brought cheers from the crowd.
On shore, local chefs stood by, ready to get cooking. They boiled the fish and cooked their unique fish soup, which won high praise from those who tasted it.
Located on the Lixiahe plain, the Qinhu River has abundant fish due to its pristine water and the winter fishing not only attracts locals and tourists, but also promote the sales of organic fish and agricultural and sideline products from the area.
