Dedicated efforts have been made by the Xuzhuang sub-district in Taizhou city, located in East China's Jiangsu province, to boost the development of its collective economy.
A special working team has been established to guide 13 local villages to develop their plans for increasing village-level collective incomes.
Xuzhuang sub-district is also encouraging new models to promote income growth. In Kongqiao community, for example, four villages invested in a company to explore a model that integrates agricultural products, e-commerce and physical stores.
The company is working with local companies and family farmers to jointly improve the profile of the Xuzhuang agricultural product brand and explore the market.
Moreover, the sub-district has put together a list of idle assets and resources and tried to reactivate them.
It has tackled in a coordinated way such issues as the non-standard management of rentals of properties and operational assets in villages or communities and the incomplete collection of rent. This is expected to recover 1.18 million yuan ($164,830) by the end of the year.
By deploying various subsidies and grants, the sub-district is also increasing support for economically weak villages and moving to harness more social capital to participate in the development of the village-level collective economy.
