Ling Jianjun, CNC programmer at manufacturer Jiangsu Tailong Decelerator Machinery Co Ltd – located in the Taixing High-tech Zone in Taixing city, in East China's Jiangsu province – was recently honored, joining the ranks of Jiangsu Most Beautiful Craftsmen.
Computer numerically controlled or CNC programmers operate factory machines that turn raw materials into functional objects.
Organized by provincial departments, the selection activity aims to promote top examples of craftsmen and showcase skilled workers in the province.
Born in 1975, Ling has previously received such honors as Enterprise Chief Technician of Jiangsu Province and he was also designated as a National Model Worker.
While an apprentice in Tailong in 1998, Ling worked over 300 hours per month to remember all the key names relating to CNC machine tools and become proficient in the operations process.
His dedicated efforts paid off when he was able to operate the tools independently in just two or three months.
Nowadays, Ling is a technical expert in his field in the province – winning third prize in the province in the Jiangsu Skills Champion competition in 2014.
In addition, he now provides pre-job training for new employees, transfer, and re-employment training for old employees, as well as targeted technical guidance for outstanding employees.
Under his guidance, over 400 employees in Tailong have been evaluated as technicians.
