Taixing city, located in East China's Jiangsu province, has made dedicated efforts to advance the West-East natural gas pipeline, a landmark project designed to boost the high-quality development of western China.
The total length of the West-East natural gas pipeline in Taixing is 90 kilometers, with high consequence areas identified, where potential leaks could have significant averse effects on public health and environment.
The high consequence areas typically have a dense population and frequent construction activities, resulting in relatively high safety risks, according to the city's development and reform commission.
At present, all nine high consequence areas are equipped with dedicated patrol personnel and dedicated district chiefs to provide all-round oversight.
To prevent the impact of third-party interference of the system, Taixing municipal departments have also erected warning signs every 50 meters.
Moreover, notice signs, safety warning signs and intelligent cameras have been set up in each high consequence area.
In addition, nine high consequence areas are also being equipped with risk control staff that will conduct monthly supervision to help enterprises resolve problems and eliminate safety hazards.
