The new Yangtze River Delta advanced medical technology innovation center was inaugurated at the Taizhou (Shanghai) industrial and innovation integration promotions meeting, where a major project-signing ceremony was also held in East China's Shanghai on July 2.
The center – which will be located in Taixing city, East China's Jiangsu province – is the sole technology innovation hub in the biopharmaceutical field established by the Shanghai-based National Innovation Center par Excellence, or NICE.
It focuses on developing research platforms for medical micro-nano materials, micro-nano diagnostic and therapeutic technologies and cell drug screening, alongside related technology testing and commercialization services.
The center aims to promote the applications research, pilot testing, results transformation and enterprise incubation of advanced medical technologies, such as biomedical materials, high-end formulations, cell drugs and diagnostic equipment.
As such, it will aspire to become a national leader in advanced medical innovation technology.

In addition, six major industrial projects were signed at the event, with a total planned investment of 17.2 billion yuan ($ 2.37 billion).
The projects include a super filter press project costing 5.2 billion yuan, the first phase of an aerospace power industrial park costing 3.65 billion yuan and a new energy vehicle charging system project with an investment of 3 billion yuan.
