Taixing city, administered by Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province, last year achieved great results boosting its public and social services for residents.
Taixing created 12,000 urban jobs and established two provincial-level employment internship demonstration bases in 2023.
The city granted funds of 298 million yuan ($41.44 million) last year, helping 532,400 residents living in hardship. The basic pension and the subsistence allowance were increased to 247 yuan and 800 yuan per person per month, respectively.
In terms of care for the elderly, Taixing was included in the first batch of demonstration home-based community eldercare service areas in the province.
A diverse range of action will also be undertaken by the city this year to further improve the livelihoods of its residents.
For key groups such as college graduates, disabled individuals and retired soldiers, Taixing will support their flexible employment and encourage them to become independent entrepreneurs – aiming to create 11,000 new urban jobs and nurture over 3,200 independent entrepreneurs in the current year.
Taixing will also implement a dynamic adjustment mechanism for the minimum living guarantee standard and the basic living standards of extremely poor dependents.
