Guangling town in Taixing – a county-level city administered by Taizhou, in East China's Jiangsu province – held various cultural activities on Jan 9 to celebrate the Chinese New Year, including flower arranging, calligraphy and paper folding.
Yu Hong, a local flower arranging inheritor of intangible cultural heritage, gave an online presentation.
In the Tongxin calligraphy room, Li Zhongming was teaching kids how to write the Chinese character "福" (meaning "blessings" in English). Chinese New Year couplets and "福" characters were spread out all over the tables and floor, to usher in blessings for the New Year.
"We should pay attention to the left and right alternate clips, so our paper-cuts will look great," said Liu Jiancheng, secretary-general of New Social Stratum Association of the town. The efforts of the kids were transformed into vivid and wonderful creations – including flowers, red lanterns and small animals.
Later, Guangling town will arrange intangible cultural heritage, traditional culture, sports and entertainment and other activities, said Zhou Liujun, an official of the town.
