The China's Postdoctoral Management Office – responsible for the research and coordination of major issues in postdoctoral work across the country – recently announced a list of newly established national postdoctoral research stations.
On it was 5Elem Hi-Tech Corporation Technology Co Ltd – located in the Jiangyan Economic Development Zone of Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – which was upgraded to a national-level postdoctoral research station.
A postdoc is a temporary position that allows a PhD holder to continue their training as a researcher and gain skills and experience that will prepare them for their academic career.

As one of the world's biggest producers and suppliers of large-diameter flat hoses, 5Elem Hi-Tech Corporation Technology Co Ltd says it's committed to providing premium hose products to global users.
It has been recognized as a National Key High-Tech Enterprise, a National Intellectual Property Advantage Enterprise and a National Green Factory.
The company has established production and supply chain bases in the United States, Vietnam and Belgium and has set up a research institution in Belgium.
Additionally, it has established engineering centers in the US, Austria, Italy, Australia, the Czech Republic, Spain and Belgium, carving out a global presence.
Currently, the Jiangyan EDZ hosts a total of four national-level postdoctoral research stations and three provincial postdoctoral innovation practice bases.
Looking ahead, plans are for the zone to implement the principles of innovation-driven and talent-led development. It will step up the hiring and training of top innovative young talent to inject new vitality into expansion that is tailored to local conditions.
