The Jiangyan Economic Development Zone – located in Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province – has revitalized a flood-prone area.
That's after the No 3 Bridge Square area in Xiaoyang community had fallen into disrepair, with severe waterlogging during the flood season greatly affecting the travel of locals.
In response, the zone convened representatives of both cadres and residents to hold a public consultation and opinions and insights were gathered to map out a renovation plan.
Today, No 3 Bridge Square has undergone a complete transformation and not only has the surface been refurbished, but newly installed rubber pathways are smooth and clean.
Over 30 parking spaces now meet the needs of nearby residents. Other upgrades include the addition of rainwater and sewage drainage systems, as well as lighting and charging facilities.
Pavilion corridors have been built on both sides of the square and new fitness equipment has been added, boosting the conditions for locals and their spirits.
