The Jiangyan Economic Development Zone – located in Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – recently carried out a series of activities aimed at disaster prevention and reduction.
These included a specialized training session, an emergency drill and a themed community outreach event.
At the disaster prevention and reduction training session, specific work requirements were outlined for enterprises to implement safety responsibilities during their operations – as well as to further bolster their awareness and capabilities in disaster risk prevention.
The meeting emphasized the importance for local businesses to effectively fulfill their duties and to conduct thorough inspections to identify potential hazards.
The emergency drill for disaster prevention and reduction simulated a fire outbreak due to overheating machinery in a production workshop.
The drill thoroughly tested the response capabilities of labor-intensive production manufacturers through the coordinated efforts of evacuation teams, fire suppression teams and company electricians.
During the community outreach event for National Disaster Prevention and Reduction Day on May 12, staff members briefed residents on earthquake-related know-how and explained safety measures for various earthquakes.
Residents were encouraged to participate in disaster preparedness drills, practicing the behavior protocols they should adopt in different earthquake disaster scenarios.
