Qixiang village in Huangqiao town in Taixing city, administered by Taizhou in East China's Jiangsu province, is fast carving a reputation for itself as a rural tourism hot spot, thanks to the recent construction of a raft of agricultural projects.

Listed as a poverty-stricken village for 11 consecutive years, its fortunes began to change in 2001 when Ding Xueqi was appointed as director of the village committee.

Through continuous reform, the village has successively upgraded four industries, including its characteristic industries, efficient agriculture, rural tourism, and research and training.

The cumulative reception of various types of training for local villagers has now reached 800,000 people, ranking it first in terms of the scale of its village training nationwide. Most villagers in Qixiang have now landed jobs.

In 2022, the village's collective operating income reached 3.82 million yuan ($523,19) while the per capita disposable income of farmers jumped to 31,848 yuan. Both metrics have increased 11 times over the past decade.
