Hailing district in Taizhou city, East China's Jiangsu province, recently launched its first workstation to screen locals for diabetic complications.
Located at the health service center in the Jingtai Road sub-district, the workstation aims to slow the progression of complications through early detection, diagnosis and treatment of diabetes.
It will introduce advanced equipment such as ultrasound Doppler vascular detectors to help in the detection process.
Earlier this year, the health service center in the Jingtai Road sub-district promoted a "family doctor" model to provide door-to-door services for diabetic patients. Since its implementation, it has benefited nearly 120,000 residents.
"Taking this as an opportunity, family doctors will encourage local residents to actively screen for diabetes and related complications at the workstation," said Xiao Yingqiu, a local official.
Statistics showed that the number of diabetes patients in China ranks first in the world, as the diabetes prevalence rate in the Han population is 14.7 percent.
