Six enterprises in Taizhou, East China's Jiangsu province, recently obtained the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certification on June 7.
Advocated by the Brussels-based World Customs Organization, the AEO program is designed to strengthen international supply chain security and facilitate the movement of legitimate goods.
The six enterprises include Lens Precision (Taizhou) Co Ltd, Haiyang Technology Co Ltd, Taizhou Longyang Wood Industry Co Ltd, Taizhou Rayard Furniture Co Ltd, SP Chemicals (Taixing) Co Ltd and Runtai Chemical (Taixing) Co Ltd.
Enterprises that have an AEO can enjoy benefits in countries or regions that recognize the certification.
To date, China has signed AEO mutual recognition agreements with 50 countries and regions.
Taizhou currently has 10 enterprises that have AEO certifications.
Official data shows that Taizhou had a record import and export volume of 130.73 billion yuan ($18.33 billion) last year, up 8.2 percent year-on-year.
From January to April, the total import and export volume of foreign trade of Taizhou reached 42.01 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7 percent.
